The Edmonton Business Digital Update: August 2026

Published by Tyler Bradshaw | Dopamine Designs

Welcome to this month's digital update. As a local web developer growing up and working right here in the Edmonton area, my goal is to share practical, no-nonsense tips to help our local businesses get found online and turn visitors into loyal customers.

This Month's Spotlight: Getting Your Site Ready for the Fall Rush

As we head out of the summer season and into the fall, local customers are changing their habits. The "vacation mode" is ending and the city is getting back into the swing of work and school routines—which means they are actively looking for local services again.

Here are three quick things you can do to make sure your website is ready for the upcoming September rush:

  • Check your hours: Have you updated your shop or service hours for the back-to-school season? Nothing frustrates a customer more than showing up to a closed door.
  • Refresh your visuals: Does your site still feature summer promotions? Swap those out for your fall and winter offerings so your site feels fresh and relevant.
  • The 3-Second Rule: Fall is a busy time for everyone. If your site takes longer than three seconds to load on a mobile device, your customers are already clicking 'back' to choose a competitor.

Quick "Local SEO" Check:

Log into your Google Business Profile this week and ensure your contact phone number is still correct and that you've added at least one new photo of your business. Google loves active profiles, and it helps you show up higher in local searches when the city gets busy again.
